TOPIC: A City With Broken Walls

BIBLE READING: – Hebrews 2:18-3:6

In the Bible times city walls were important, as they protected people in the city from enemies and kept them safe. Whenever the walls collapsed, people inside the city were no longer safe and could be attacked and carried away as slaves. When you put aside your self-control and yield to temptation, you are like a city with broken walls.

Are you a city with broken walls? How have you resisted temptation to lie to your parents? How about the temptation to cheat during exams or to steal? Have you resisted the temptation to be disobedient? What of the temptation to eat secretly when a fast has been declared? At times you are faced with the choice of reading your books or playing around.

For some, your so-called friends have been luring you into sin, and you too want to “belong”. They tell you everybody does it; they even make you to feel outdated if you are a virgin and have never had sex. These have made you confused, Hey! Hold on don’t allow your walls to crumble. You can ask God to help you. You can even discuss with your parents or someone mature in the Lord whenever you are tempted to do wrong.

THOUGHT: OUR SELFISHNESS AND APPETITE MAKE THE TEMPTER’S WORK EASIER IN OUR LIFE. 

PRAYER: Lord Jesus gives me a way of escape when temptation comes my way.
