“DAILY COMMUNION WITH GOD”

Topic: Blinded Riches
Bible Reading: – Deuteronomy 8: 6-20
The land that God promised to bring the Israelites into was indeed a good land. “A land with streams and pools of water, with springs flowing in the valleys and hills, a land with wheat and barley, vines and fig trees, pomegranates, olive oil and honey, a land where bread will not be scarce, a land where the rocks are iron and you can dig copper out of the hills” Deut.8:7-9
Upon settling on this land, the Israelites were going to prosper greatly and lack nothing. However, God knew that this prosperity may get into their heads and blind their eyes so that they will forget about Him. This was why God had to warn them in strong terms that if they allow such to happen, then they are headed for destruction {v.19}.
Many today have been destroyed by their wealth due to their recklessness. No sooner had they gotten into great riches than they had forgotten all about God! They suddenly began to attribute the reason for their being wealthy to their smartness or abilities, forgetting that it is God who gives the power to make wealth. {v.18}
Brethren, the way not to fall into this kind of error is by remaining humble and obedient to God. REMEMBER, TO BE CONTROLLED BY WEALTH IS TO HEAD FOR DESTRUCTION.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus delivers me from the abuse of wealth and prosperity that will ruin my life.
