ECWA GOSPEL CHURCH GRA BIDA
“DAILY COMMUNION WITH GOD”
AT THE TABLE OF LOCKDOWN
21st May, 2020
Topic: Don’t waste your potentials
BIBLE READING: – 2 kings 13:14-21
Someone said that the graveyard is the richest place on earth when it comes to potentials. Many dreams, visions, plans, aspirations etc end in the graveyard. How sad. Elisha was a mighty prophet who did so many miracles in his lifetime. After his death, his dried bones performed a miracle. We could deduce from this episode that he was not through with his ministry when he died!
How can we maximize our potentials? The starting point is identifying our potential. To identify your potential, God’s design is that we are faithful in little; He promotes us towards our own, which is what we are made for. As we are faithful in things which do not need our full potentials, the potentials in us become evident. There is a constant need for self-appraisal to identify the potentials in us and to attain our potentials. Don’t be wasted!

Reading through the gospel according to St. Matthew 25:24-30. The parable talent is a parable that shows wasted potentials. Three people were given talents, in varying proportions. Two were faithful and doubled their talents. The last man hid his talent and brought it back as he was given. At the end of the story, the faithful servants were given cities to rule, nothing to do with talents you may say! The man who chose not to trade was not given even one city to rule. He wasted his potentials. Faithfulness makes us to fulfill our potentials. Only God knows how many potential doctors are doing something else because they were not faithful in secondary school. A faithful man shall abound with blessings.
Prayer: The grace to be faithful with what you have given to me Oh Lord, release it on me in Jesus name.
