AT THE TABLE OF LOCKDOWN

TOPIC: Self admiration…
BIBLE READING: – Philippians 3:1-15
If the great Apostle Paul had not “arrived” {verse 12}, neither have you! Remember all what he went through for the cause of the gospel? As a matter of fact, he wrote the letter we just read from, from house arrest in Rome-for the Gospel. When you start to admire yourself and think that you have done so much for God or men, you are saying bye-bye to progress.
Anyone who is mature or perfect {verse 15} must have this in mind. Somebody said that “if you are SO impressed by what you did long ago, it is an evidence you have not done anything lately”! Well …? God is on the move even today. Put behind your past achievements or failures and believe Him for greater days are head.
God does not deny that you could be a wise, mighty or rich man. And who made you so anyway? But none of these is a ground for self admiration. Another way you could look at verse 24 is “let all the glory go to God”. Since that is what delights God, you can then expect MORE to happen.
If Abraham started with God at 75, be sure that there is more ahead of you. Stop to admire yourself. Be thankful for what God is about to still do in and through your life. Self admiration is a product of pride, keep away from pride it is destructive. Since Pride is a tool for destruction, my prayer is:
Prayer: Lord Jesus, remove every form of pride in me and give me the Spirit of humility, in Jesus name.
I remain your humble Servant Pastor David A. Taiwo {ECWA GOSPEL CHURCH GRA BIDA}
